Criteria for choosing a winning product and campaign conditions
Have you chosen a niche? excellent. Have you chosen a partner network? beauty. Now comes the critical moment: The selection of the specific products to be promoted. A good product can turn a mediocre campaign into a money machine. A bad product will waste your time and energy.
7 criteria for product selection
1. ๐ฐ The amount of the commission
This is clear, but there are nuances. 50% commission on a product for 20$ = 10$ for you. 5% commission on a product for 1,000$ = 50$. Always think in absolute value, not just in percentages.
2. ๐ Conversion rate (CR) of the campaign
If the network shows the conversion percentage - this is a critical measure. A campaign with a commission of 5% but a CR of 8% - is better than a campaign with a commission of 15% and a CR of 0.5%.
3. ๐ช The lifetime of the cookie
The longer the cookie, the higher your chance of getting credit for the sale. A 30-day cookie is much better than a 24-hour cookie.
4. โญ Product quality and reviews
Only promote products that you are Would recommend them even without commission. Negative Reviews = High Return Rate = Chargebacks = Cancellation of Fees.
5. ๐ฏ Adaptation to your audience
An excellent product that does not fit your audience - will not contribute. If your audience is young mothers, don't promote computer graphics cards.
6. ๐ Trends and demand
Use Google Trends to make sure the product is on the rise or at least stable. A product that is already in decline = risk.
7. ๐ช The quality of the advertiser's sales page
You can get the best traffic in the world, but if the advertiser's sales page is slow, ugly, or unclear - conversions will be low. Before promoting - check the sales page as if you were the customer.
How to read and understand campaign conditions
Every campaign in a partner network has "Terms & Conditions". Read them! Here's what to look for:
| parameter | what to check | example |
|---|---|---|
| allowed/forbidden | What marketing channels are allowed (social, email, PPC) | "It is forbidden to use the brand name in sponsored campaigns on Google" |
| Geographical boundaries | From which countries the traffic must come | "England only" |
| Hold Period | The waiting period before the commission is released | "45 days from the date of conversion" |
| minimum withdrawal | The minimum amount to transfer to the account | "100โฌ" / "$50" |
| action type | What counts as a "conversion" (purchase? registration? installation?) | "First purchase only" / "Happy near" |
| Coupons | Is it allowed to post coupons? | "Do not use coupon codes that have not been officially provided" |
Violation of the terms of the campaign can result in Cancellation of all your fees and even to block the account. Don't skip the terms!
- Is the fee reasonable (in absolute terms)?
- Is the cookie long enough?
- Is the product high quality and has positive reviews?
- Does the advertiser's sales page look good and fast?
- Is the product suitable for my audience?
- Have I read the terms of the campaign?
- I checked on Google Trends that the product is not on the decline?
