Module 6 ยท Lesson 2
Meta Ads and Google Ads: Campaign Setup Step by Step
Part 1: Meta Ads (Facebook + Instagram)
Meta Ads is often the easiest paid channel to test for affiliates. Main advantage: audience precision and creative velocity.
Meta setup workflow
- Open a business account in Meta Business Suite (business.facebook.com)
- Choose your campaign objective
- Traffic - if you are validating click quality
- Conversions - if you have proper event tracking on your destination page
- Define a testable audience
- Location: your target country or country group
- Age range: based on product-market fit
- Interests/behaviors: niche-specific intent signals
- Set a starter budget: usually $30-$50/day for tests
- Build creative assets
- Strong visual hook (image or short video)
- Specific headline and clear CTA
- Short copy focused on one primary benefit
- Send traffic to your owned page: landing page, review page, or pre-sell page (avoid direct affiliate links in ads where restricted)
โ ๏ธ Important: platform policy first
Meta policy enforcement can be strict. Keep claims realistic, disclose commercial intent where required, and route users through compliant destination pages with transparent value.
Part 2: Google Ads
Google Ads works best when users already show active intent through search behavior.
Types of Google Ads campaigns:
| Type | Best for | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Search | High-intent queries | Ads on "best [product]" or "buy [product]" searches |
| Display | Retargeting and visual reminders | Banner ads to previous site visitors |
| YouTube | Video-first angles and product demos | In-stream videos before relevant content |
Search campaign setup
- Build keyword sets by intent: "buy", "best", "price", "alternative", "coupon"
- Create focused ads per ad group (headline + description + relevant landing page)
- Start with a controlled budget (for example $20-$40/day)
- Add negative keywords to reduce wasted spend
- Track conversions and optimize bids, ads, and landing pages weekly
๐ Tracking and consent note
If you use tags/pixels for optimization, ensure your site has appropriate consent handling and privacy disclosures for the regions you target.
๐ก Meta vs Google - what to choose?
- Meta Ads - best for demand generation and creative testing
- Google Ads - best for capturing existing intent
- For beginners: start with one channel, get stable CPA/ROAS, then expand
